my nephews 400z quit running out on the trails.

i have put it at top-dead center and the timing and chain are good.

i have checked for valve lash and cant get my feeler gage to even come close to going under the intake or exhaust valves.

intake .010-.020 by specs i can get .004 to go but not .005 so out of range bad.

exhaust reading very bad to

would you guys say it needs 4 new valves and springs put in the head?

can anybody give me advice on what to buy for this atv

thanks from killer454

Replace all 4 valves,do a valve job and I would also change the valve slings and seals.

Pull it apart before you order anything. Might just need the seats cut but you wont know till you get it apart and it might need guides as well.

how will i know if it needs valves?

do the valves reces into the seats or what?

i thought about removing the head to see if the valves will leak when closed.would this mean new valves.

what am i looking for?

The valves on the z are known for cupping, seat bare always good just need cleaned up for the new valves but the valves will be junk more than likely,
I prefer stock valves if your motor is mostly stock but for fully built I prefer ferra. Jmo
