Hey guys im looking to get some Nerf Bars for my 2008 400ex. I want the kind with the built in Heel Guards for around 250$ and under. I was looking at these 3, Pro Armor Fat Peg, Pro Armor XC, And the Tusk Foot Peg Nerf Bars with Heel Guards. Which ones are the best? Any suggestions? Any pics of them mounted on a 400ex specifically the 08? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

I have the tusk ones rocky mtn sells for like 160. I LOVE them, for the price imho you cannot go wrong. They have held up to great abuse for probably a year now.

Course the pro armors are probably stronger and better built-but for price and quality you get the tusk nerfs imho are worth it.

If I could figure out how to upload pics from my phone to the site I would show pics of my PC black pro-armor nerfs.

Hey were they easy to mount? Do you think theyll hold up to a 6'3 270 pound man with a size 12 boot? lol

I've got those same style nerfs that B.C. has, got mine for $170, but I thought they were called Sport nerfs or something. Anyway, they bolt up easy and are pretty good, but mine started breaking the welds around the heel guards because when I jump my tabletop I damn near bottom out the rear shock and my tires hit the backside of the heel guards, so it started breaking the welds after all the jumping, and that's with 20's, I'd hate to see what would happen if I put on 22's. Other than that they are really solid nerfs, just don't try jumping freestyle jumps and expect them to hold up.

no there the stock pegs and very easy to instal they give u 2 bolts for the front and u take the back bolt off the bottom a-arms then align the nerfs with the hole and put the new bolt in, then take the pegs off and align the 2 holes with the peg holes and put the pegs back on with the same bolts and thats it, they hold my cousin up that is 6'5" 350 lbs they work good for and im 6' 150 lbs

I bought them new, and they are bolted on right, I just don't think they had them designed right back when I bought them. I'll snap some pics and update this post when I get a chance.

My brother had the same issue with his Pro Armor's. The welds on the heel guards broke on the first ride in the dunes.

My Tusk's have held up well. I jump my quad quite a bit but to be honest I don't clear 60 foot table tops. I jump plenty high enough to bottom out the stock suspension but I'm no racer. I've rubbed mine up against tree trunks and roots without any issue. I've come off the pegs while landing a few times and they have saved my feet and legs. We ride at a gravel area a lot and I bottom out on them all the time in the dips before hill climbs.

I think if you aren't a racer, they will hold up great. But you gotta go with what you are comfortable with. You don't want to be ridding around all the time worried about your parts.

When did you buy yours? Because I had a similar problem with my Big Gun pipe. When I first bought it(right after they released)it broke the welds on the rear mount because they had a crappy design. But when I traded it in for a new one it was a completely different design and didn't hit. So I'm guessing its the same type of deal with these.

kbnorth99, what did your brother do with his? I was thinking of having them re-tig'd and then powdercoated. But I might buy some Blingstar nerfs now.

He took his to a buddy and re-welded. They have been OK since then but I think one other weld is starting to crack.

You can see in this pic how the tire rubs the back of the heelguard, it's even taking chunks of of my tire and making a U shape in the tread.

Damn. That sucks. If it was to do that with mine ill just remove sell em and put the stock guards on and buy some ac nerfs without the guard. I used to have some on my 05 and they were really great. Held up well even though once in a while id hit some big jumps and rocks with em

And hey read that in your mods it says Sparks Exhuast. Do you think its worth the 600$? I was thinking about getting the Big Gun Eco ES or the X-6 but im not to sure. The Big Gun only cost around 200$ and it said with proper jetting I can get a 6 HP gain. Do you think thats a good pipe? And is the Sparks really loud? I want loud but not super loud as to where the cops can hear me from far away. Im most likely moving to a house less than 1/2 a mile away from a jail btw so I dont want to catch the attention of the authorities to much
