I was just in the process of slapping my motor back together and I realized that one of my cases is an 88-89 case and the other is an 86-87 case. I decided to put them together anyway because on the inside they look identical. They went together perfectly there are some differences obviously but has anyone done this before?

It seems like its going to work just fine everything seems to be working perfectly. I did a search couldn't find anything on it.

before I took them apart the engine was already miss-matched. one side was black and the other side was silver.

I has has several quads like that and there were no problems. There are a few very minor differences in the cases, but they will work together just fine!

All case half’s interchange from 85-89. OEM sets had been line bored, separate half’s are not. Only difference you see is on top end and more wear on crank, bearings, rod and piston-ring set. Currently no choice if you are in need of a case half.
