I have a friend that lives down the street from me, and he has a brother that lives behind him. We used to ride down at the creak every now and then. Until one day he brought his 3 year old son along for the ride one day. Well long story short he was riding with his son in his lap with no helmet and blasting down the creek side at highway speeds.

I stopped and told him if he was going to continue to ride with his son like that I would not be a part of it, and I left the seen and we haven’t ridden together since.

Now we still talk every now and then but that’s it.

Well today I see him riding down the street with not one but two small kids with no helmets on and he was going as fast as that 4 wheeler would go.

Should I have another talk with him or leave it be? He knows how I feel about it and yet he still does it.

It just ticks me off to no end to see him doing that.

What would you do?

Id say something to him. Put it nicely but firmly that riding with kids is dangerous enough-but without helmets hes asking for trouble.

He replies like a jerk then thats that.

show him this, it's a picture of a kid who crashed on a quad without a helmet.

I would say this is NSFW...

The link has been removed.
I think it was pappy who posted a pic of a kid with head injuries a few weeks ago. I’ll have to see if I can dig it up.

As soon as I read the original post I thought about that split head picture. I would show him that and see what he does. You just cant help some people.

I'd leave it be. Yes, it's dangerous. Yes, it makes our sport look bad. But you've already told him how you feel about the situation. You can't FORCE him to be responsible.

Most people have their limits, that fine line between trying to help, and stepping away from the situation completely. Now your line might be different than mine, but for me that line is once. I say it once, and then I wash my hands of the whole issue.

If he is riding down the street depending on where you live he will get in trouble for it if he's doing more than crossing a bridge or a street. Confront him in a polite but firm manner saying I don't mean to pry into your life I just really feel that you should have helmets on the kids at least if your going to have them on the quad with you. If he's a dick about it, call the cops when he's bombing down the street with 2 children on his lap. Most cops take endangering a childs life very seriously as it should be. If a 3-4 year old child falls off a quad at any higher speed it will be killed. The skull of a toddler isn't near hard enough yet to support that hard of an impact.

I agree 100%...He shouldn’t be going that fast with kids on period. Helmet or not.
Giving kids a ride should only be done at very low speed, putting around.
He’s my friend’s brother and I would have top go out of my way to talk to him because I hardly ever see him.
As for the cops, they never come down my street unless someone calls them and even then it takes 2-3 hours for them to respond.

I would rather keep it in house and not get the authorities involved. We all do dumb chit from time to time and I believe in giving someone a chance correct there mistake.
It’s not like he does it all the time but we all know it only takes one time for things to go bad.
