Anyone know if the 426 and yz450 motors mount the same?

Also, does anyone know which cam is needed to get rid of the decompression lever on a 2000 yz426?

Thanks for any info.

you will have to slot the lower mount to make it fit i went through that already. right way is to get the hot cam. you can get the dirtbike cam but its tricky to set up the dot cause the cam is at a different setting in the 450. your still going to have to start it the same way. you have to find tdc and bump it past then kick it. just dont have to pull lever. hot cam is like 140 on ebay.

if you have it set up right there isnt much difference in power i never would have waisted my money to switch them but i had an oiling issue that i never caut until 4 motors gernaded and made me hate the 426. im on the verge however of a 2010 yz 450 revamp of my bike but its 3g for the motor to gain 4 hp.

right now the fuel injection in quad/bike motor's is nice for starting and crispness, but the motor are almost putting out the same hp (not sure about yzf's) and the fuel injection gives an extra amount of rpm's. plus I think carbs are easier to deal with

An 03 yz cam....
And the 450 lower engine mount sit aprox .200 towards the rear, then the 426.

And on the timing of the new 450 cam...bring the engine up on TDC, and note-mark-scribe the location of the cam lobe on the R/H side of the engine.
Install the new 450 in that position...not a big deal.
You will love the engine with the 450 exhaust cam.

Goog luck.

Thanks for all the info!

Will the hot cams cam for the 426 do about the same thing as the 03 450 cam will as far as performance and auto decompression?

Would be a good pick, just make sure it has the auto-dec.
You will also need a plug, to plug the hole where the manual dec lever once was.
