I had a powercore 4 and liked it.
Ive heard HMFs and liked them too.

they are around the same price, what do you guys think?

or maybe suggest another in the same price range.

I want it to sound good, but my main concern is volume.....

is the HMF louder? seems like i remember it being louder....

If they are the same volume, which sounds better to those of you have had heard both on the 400ex?

quieter is better, also, any thoughts on what is the quietest pipe out right now?

fmf q4 will be hands down the quietest and would be my only suggestion now a days. it is 90 dB.

the others will be over 95 with the hmf being almost 98 without the quiet core in it. it is tunable but still costs more to buy the inserts needed in most cases.

i think the hmf would probably flow the best but i am not a fan of hmfs sound and tone nor how loud it is.

my vote~ q4

HMF would be better if you want a good exhaust system get Curtis Sparks Big Core X-6, its the best for a 400ex

ive got an hmf and I also got the quiet core insert. the insert does take the deep loudness out of it, especially in the higher rpms, but it sounds like *** and it does feel a little weaker.

Im probably going to go with the Powercore 4 or the Q4....
because although i like the HMF's they are probably too loud. (and i think quiet cores are pointless and sound like crap)

wonder if the difference in db is worth the extra money for the Q4...

Motoworks is the best sounding pipe out there and is often overlooked. There about $270 if im not mistaken which puts you in the same price range as a HMF or FMF. There not too loud but loud enough and have a very nice sounding tone to them.

I listened to the sr4 on youtube, and i like it.
They are only $209 from motoworks.

i see you have quite the array of quads and pipes according to your sig.
Is the motoworks louder than most, about the same? quieter?

I have an FMF powercore 4 and I love the sound, its not horribly loud like the HMF(i had one) and still has good power gains

Between an HMF and FMF .. FMF for me.

I have never liked the sound of the HMF pipes on anything. My old Powercore 4 was the best sounding EX exhaust I have ever heard. I received compliments on the sound all the time.

Link to my EX with Powercore 4. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j7jBpEfjvU)

I have not been sold on the durability of HMF cans. I noticed that they look beat down and scuffed up after just a few months of riding. Also seen many of them blow the packing out rather quickly.

I Have a HMF full system on my 08 and its a little on the loud side compared to others , If your going for the full syaytem i would definally get Curtis Sparks my bro has it on his 300 and absolutly loves it , it make awesome power. Anyways i dont have a motoworks on and of my bike but 2 of my buddies do , one on a 450r and one on a 400 , and they both love them , they definally have a better sound than any exhaust ive ever heard on a atv (besides V-twins) they put out around 98db with out a quiet core and about 95 with one if im not mistaken, also with a slip on your not going to notice a power difference with different aftermarket pipes there going to all be about the same.

Is the motoworks louder than the powercore4?

what is the db on the PC4?

im not really looking for anymore power, just a replacement pipe since my PC4 is falling off. the previous owner didnt treat it very well....
its trashed.

Does anyone have the motoworks SR$ full system on their 400? They are priced at $449 on their site and that seems cheap for a full system. I did a search on google/youtube and found nothing for a 400ex.
