I decided I am going to start a new build. I just finished one this spring but knew I had to try to out do my friends Lobo bike. I know I can't afford to build a Lobo but I figured a Leager CR 500 is the next best thing. So I found a frame and gathered some parts, (thanks Tim) and now it's off to powder coat.

I am also selling my '86 250r to help fund my build. I guess I would also trade it for a nice, high horse power motor (330pv, 350pv, 370pv) or some long travel shocks 19". Old Red has a stock motor in it that has an mx port job. all the lights work as the should. it also has a Paul Tunner high rev pipe (great for the dunes). She is very reliable, I use her as a spare bike down at the dunes, I felt bad because the last two times she never even gotten ridden.any offers or just pm me and let me know what you have.

Well I just got my frame back from powder coat and I think it looks great. I decided to go with a color called silver hybrid vain (thanks Tim). It’s a sweet color and I think it will go together nicely. As you can see Old Red is in the background, still for sale, I’m thinking $1700 or partial trade on long travel shocks (19.25”) or a 310, 330, 350, or 370 motor.

Yes, that's nice but you are probaly not willing to trade Old Red for some of that stuff. Are you?

It is coming together slowly but surely

Looks good. I would move the snap ring on the shocks (preload) up about an inch to start off with, right now it is completely compressing the ZPS spring. I had them that way the time they were on the 450 and didn't move them back.

No, it's an old parts bike, oh I all most forgot. You need to come over and look at that stem. while your at it I will fill up the back of your pickup with way more parts then you need!

I have been very busy lately and been neglecting the build. Went up to South Dakota the past weekend and rode at Farmingdale. If no one knows what I'm talking about look up Farmingdale sd on youtube and you will see that it is a pretty cool place to ride. Also while I was up in South Dakota I made my long time girlfriend my wife. I wanted to get married on the R's but she never wanted any thing to do with that. Well I guess you cant win them all.
Well I'm now trying to get my new bike done before the next trip down to the dunes so I pulled it out today and worked on it a little and this is how far I got. Enjoy the pic's.

I don't know Troy. I was hoping you and Dan can help me out on this one. I want this to be my one and only dune bike. The only place this bike is going to get rode at is in the sand. Now with that being said I would like to try that ESR 370 kit. I would get the cylinder and have Neil or someone do all my port work. But all that stuff might have to wait until I get my taxes back this spring. For now I have a CT340 I got from Dans brother I will probably put in it for now. I also have a CR ignition I will throw in there.

I'd probably stick with the 340/350 CT motor, that should be a great top end for you. Neil could clean that up put a duner port on it, run some higher compression to get back the low end and it would be a beast. I don't know what you'd gain with an ESR 370 unless you wanted all new stuff... Either way going to be a cool build. That protrax CR500 is best the setup there is....

The bike is looking Dope Jesse! Ive heard that the 370 is more or less a drag bike and not real reliable. This could be wrong idk for sure? I would agree with troy I think that your stroked 330 or a 350 will be more then enough power to throw some sand around! Im getting the itch to hit the dunes man and ride with some other Rs. Good luck with the rest of the build keep us posted with pics!!

Hydraulic clutch.......DONT GET ONE! and if you want one I have a stream line one I'll sell you. I bought it new and it leaks more then anything I ever saw AND on the 2nd day at the dunes the slave cylinder broke (cheap piece of crap). I'm going to see if I can send it back. has anyone else had these problems?
