Should I get a 400ex and have $2500 to put into it, a z400 and put a pipe and maybe nerfs, or a stock predator? I really need to know. Thanx

I love my 400ex and have never been around a Z but I can tell you have a pipe and some other things done to my EX (no motor work) and I ahve nothing for that Predator after late 3rd to mid 4th gear on good starts. If I had to buy a new quad right now it would probably be the Predator IMO.

Thats predator surpreized me. It was faster thats my friend banshee on the Ice. The guy who own said handle diffrent from weird but had a lot power. The new z400 are starting to look real go to me. They have a better motor, good suspension and I'm starting to like how they look. Thers a hella of a lot aftermarketv parts for them. Plus they cost just as much as a 400ex. If you put 1000 dollars into the motor you get a bigger gain than with a 400ex. And now a 400ex a'n't shiz if you want to sell it.I think the 400ex had its day and its over now. I own a all done 400ex and love it.

definately the new Z, if not that then go with the predator. the ex to me is out dated... although still a very good machine, it just lacks alot in the engine compartment. good luck with your choice!

In what ways is the Z better than the Predator as I have not been around at all. I just have been with my EX and my buddies Pred.

Do you really think a z400 would be worth it with just a pipe compared to a 400ex with a pipe, shocks, axle, a-arms, nerfs, bumper, etc. I thought it would be better to have a 400ex with all that stuff on it. If i got a z400 I wouldn't be able to mod it nearly as much.

dude get the 400ex with 2500 in it. With the 2500 you could get ELKAS all the way around for like 1600 and have 900 more to play with. You could get a JE416 piston 10.5/1 ratio and a good cam and that would put you on PAR with a predator. That motor work will run you around 500 so you will still have 400 left. Take the rest and buy a-arms or maybe NERFS, PIPES or etc. But a 400ex with 2500 would dominate a stock Predator or a Z400. Do that and keep your 400ex for 2-3 years and then the Predaturds and Z's will be forgotten when HONDA releases the 450ex. Don't buy into the HYPE of the Z400 and the Predator. I have raced against several Z's and smoked them and I think it would be the same result with the Predator. Go with the HONDA.

I really do love my EX as much as any of you on here but, the Predator is only like 300 bucks more than a EX (at least up here). So I would figure that leaves you with over 2000 bucks to put into it and that thing would be so fast it would be scary. I mean from what I have seen and heard they are getting near 50 hp with pipes and airbox mods along with the proper jetting on those things.

i think he is getting a used EX and i don't see a Predator getting close to 50HP with just a pipe, jet, etc. Go with the EX. For the money you will have to spend you will have better suspension, better handleing, lighter, and as much power as a predator and more than a z400. Go with the 400ex

Say what you will but my buddies Predator dynoed at 51.8 with slip on and what not and my EX will need some major motor work to get there and keep up with it. I am talking from being around one not just guessing.

Yeah, if I get a 400ex it wouldn't be new. That would be a waste because there are used ones for around $3000. If i got a z400 though, i would get a new one beacause there aren't as many used ones, but if i was gonna spend that much on a new quad i would get a predator probly. I think i'm staying with the 400ex though beacause i could get soooo many aftermarket parts for it. I need a quad with really good suspension and still have good power(400ex with elkas, etc."$2500"), more than a quad with a pipe(z400 with almost stock everything), and more than a completely stock quad(predator). I hope that made sense.

Don't settle for the first thing you see. Shop around, i'm sure there are some great ones out there for good prices.

Good Luck. You will love the 400ex. You asked about the three quads I gave you my head to head run in with the two I know anything about that is all. You will how ever need some more money to get around the Predator.
