What it comes down to is welding the rear motor mount. I figured im having my frame gusseted so it would be easy to do at the same time.
Plus I have a 17" rear pep for the no link set up.
Or I can sell it and go with the 04/05 450r setup.
Suggestions?

A friend is currently welding up the motor mounts on his 86 frame, upper and lower,to run his 88-89 swingarm.Personally,I would use your no link setup and stay away from the 450r setup. He is also welding up a gusset kit, mine will also have one soon!

I ran an 89 swinger on my 86 frame for about a year. my chain blew off and busted my rear engine mount.
So instead of re- welding the mount I decided to go with a 450r swinger which is supposedly same length as 89 and not have unnecessary welds on my frame. plus with the 450r swinger I get a nicer rear end, somewhat of a chain guide and more motor mounts.

Another question. Its a lonstar dc-2 swingarm I believe. Can I use the bolts from the stock shock setup or do I need to get ones that are made for that swingarm. I had no shock mounting hardware come with it.

The width of the top eye hole on the new shock is 5/8. The stock shock is 1 inch. Is this gonna cause a problem?
