i'm not a fan of these f&tf cars but curious and seen that the new nissan gtr spec v cost a little over $170,000:confused: why would they put that price on a car like that? with $170,000 you can tune a ricer to over a 1000 hp, be lighter, better handeling, more nimble... how can they justify the price?

you can put around $20,000 in a heavy *** rusted 12v cummins and be way over 1,000 hp. i just don't get it.

Well there are a few things that come to mind here.

First, they don't plan to sell the car in the US/Canada. So $170,000 is just the JDM price converted into US currency. If you took the price of a "standard" GT-R and converted it into US dollars, it would be more expensive than what you pay for it. Each market has different prices, so you can't directly say that if they brought the car to the US, you would be paying EXACTLY the same price as in Japan. It's the same with nearly any car.

Second, many said they set the price that much higher than a standard GT-R as an experiment... to see how much people would be willing to pay. Chances are, most of these Spec V's will never actually be track driven.... most will be garaged, driven once or twice a month, and will just be a collectors item.

That being said, even if they were priced at $140,000, yes the price would still be "too much" in comparison to a standard GT-R. But you're paying for the exclusivity.

If there is market to sell them at that price and people that will buy them, more power to Nissan.

As a prevoius GTR owner the V-Spec is overpriced.

As for your other coments, yes you can pump $20k in to any engine but that is hardly the point........it won't stop like a GTR, it won't go around corners like a GTR; you just can't compare the 2.

So you can go fast in a straight line, thats your choice. The GTR is my choice.
