Hey guys I'm about to sell my 400 and need some opinions on about how much it would be worth it's a 09 400x full hmf exhaust sparks timing key k&n filter brand new razrs and Itp Baja wheels just got them march of this year but it uses oil and smokes a little I'm guessing it's the rings but hasn't lost any power at all

atvtrader has a 2008 400ex on there for about $4,100. but it is a dealer (they are always a little high) and i am sure it does not have any mechanical issues. i hope this gives you a good idea of where to start...

I paid $4032 for my 2008 400 brand new from the dealer in 2010

Id say your gonna get between 2700-3500, its never worth as much as you put into it or paid for it originally. Except in my case where I bought mine CHEAP and fixed it lol.

You losing tons of oil or just a little bit-little bit could be just like any other engine-they all use a lil bit of oil. Lot, well that be rings and even a little bit could be related to valve seals.

Best thing to do is check compression 100-128psi is spec.

I have to put some oil in it eveytime three or four tanks of hard riding and it doesn't smoke just a whole lot mainly if I'm runnin hard and let out and start back giving gas it will puff out iv been told either valve seals or rings and I was thinking 3500 would be about the most I could get

Probably valve seals.

Consider this: To repair it yourself would run you maybe 100 bucks worth of gaskets, tools and parts. Rings and valve seals are cheap, tools to take apart the valves can be had at rocky mtn atv for under 50 bucks.

OR

You sell it, maybe get 3500 max and buy something else. In this market Im seeing nice yfz's and 450s for that price and 400ex's and Z400's for like 2500+

I know I posted what ATVtrader had, but to be honest, around my parts, your atv wouldn't be worth more than $3000... i got my 400ex for $1400, granted, it is a 2001, but it hadnt been ridden more than about 10 hours a year for the last 5 years. my buddy has a 2004 and mine is in better shape. I am seeing newer 450r's go for around $3k here. face it, economy sucks and these things arent exactly necessities...

Agreed, I bought my 06 a couple months ago for 1500... all it needed was a new battery, and a cleaned carb

usualy dont get what you want... id keep it for as long as you can until you must sell or your just taking a lose!
