bad stator? or not?

well, I got the practice quad's engine back. and it has almost no spark... about ever 3 kicks it will put off one spark that is so small you almost cant see it. here are some pics of the stator, it looks to me like a couple of the coils melted and turned black. but I don't know what im talking about lol....

Mine looks like that too and its fine, in fact, every one I've seen has looked like that. That still doesn't mean that you don't have a bad stator. When mine went on my 06, it would start up and run, but only run about half throttle, and pop and backfire really bad. Hope that helps.

TJ all the stators trx 450 stators look like that,

have you done any of the resistance readings yet?

there is only stator, cdi, coil, wires and cap and plug,

I would eliminate all the easy stuff first.. new plug, make sure the plug wire and cap are good, read the coil resistance,swap out cdi, and check stator resistance, but Ive had stators check out fine and still fail when hot,

weve had one stator go bad, and you could tell because it was all torn up, yours looks pretty normal in my opinion
