So I have two broke down quads and a slew of parts lying around. The quad gods are not smiling on me. Need to hit some trails soon. Hopefully in less than a week one of these paperweights is spewing 2 stroke exhaust acrooss an open field:D Oh yeah dont ever try to build a polanda. ESR is but a phone call away. Save yourself from such craziness. There arent a lot of them because there is a better way my friends, let my experience teach you a lesson on that one. Well heres hoping to see some trails soon.

I hear you on this, my 250r has been broke down for awhile and I only have 2months this year to ride.. Got a kid on the way and that is going to spoil my riding for the rest of this year.

your not going to want your new child to grow up without a sibling, then you will need a new car then a new house and so on and so on.....

sorry to say but you might as well put the quads in storage someplace so they dont get replaced with a mini van

I sold my quad and race trailer when my wife was pregnant and I am glad I did....we needed that extra money. The wife didnt want me to do it, but I said that it was fine as long as I could get another one when we had the money. One year later I had another 400EX and now my whole family had a quad......I have two :).

My advise for for guys going through this.
Try to keep 1 quad to go ride once in a while. It doesn't have to be the best just something to RIDE. Sometimes if you sell it all and one thing leads to another you may not a able get another one for a very very long time.

what do you all have left for the polanda? I've just gotta get my spacer plate cut and then make a flange for the exhaust....

Ok well as for where I ride there are a couple of good places. My friend has a about a hundred acres that I ride. Near Tappan lake. Also have a good friend out in tippecanoe that likes to ride, he has a lot of farm trails and stuff. Then there used to be a lot of trails out by Tusky I used to ride but Id have to ride with my buddy or Id get lost out there, they just go on forever and everyone rides out there, so no one seems to mind if you just pass thru. Lightning Raceway is really rugged and fun and there is a motocross track there as well. Also Hartwill I found out we have a friend in common named Aaron. As for the polanda it needs a little more filling in with JB weld and smoothed out a little where I filled in the cases and port matched them. I have a small issue with my latest spacer it seems like the front holes are too close to the case so Id have to use some allens or cut into the front of the cylinder to have enough clearance. Also the exhaust flange issue. In addition to that there is a large clearance in the wrist pin bearing with the KTM rod to polaris piston that needs to be worked out. So I have once again put it to the back burner because I want to go ride. So I found a 310 with my name on it and Im going that direction for now till the polanda gets all worked out. Then I spent like 3 hours cleaning all the crud out of a rear caliper to rebuild it tonight. Just a lot of little things that take time holding me up, but I will have it worked out soon. You know you want to build a high quality build like some of the other guys on here but it takes a lot of time and money.:scary:

Is your name by chance Tom? If so I believe I gave you Aarons number a while back when you were looking for something.. the only places we go ride is wellsville and bear creek there in Canton.. I really like the mx track idea so when you are ready you'll have to show me that place. Aaron has about 6 spare motors laying around most are 310s are you getting one from him? He is a really cool guy, and has some top notch 250r builds.

Oh yea, I think its like 10,000 acres. I've been there Probly 20 times and still have no idea where I am half the time. It's a cool place because there's all kind of terrain, and its free but its full of rocks.

Wilkin, that looks like a ton of good riding there.. where about in Nevada are you located?

wilkin250r
06-15-2011, 07:44 PM
Right near the California border. If you look at the shape of Nevada on a map, there's a corner about mid-high on the left side. That corner is located about smack in the middle of Lake Tahoe, which is where I work. Just a short drive down the mountain to the southwest is were I live, Gardnerville.

Lots of lakes have beautiful spots, but Tahoe is one of the most photographed places in the U.S.

It's snow. World-class snow, we're probably second only to Vail, Colorado as a ski and snowboard destination. Riding all summer, skiing all winter. I'm livin the life, boys!

It's a nice place, it's true. No wonder an average 3-bedroom house sells for half a million around here. :eek2:
