Hey guys I searched the forum and couldn't find any info on cross-country ride height info. Anyone have any numbers you'd like to share ?

man...on my 450r it was like 8 and 9 inches back and front, on my R I'm way up there, I think like 10 and 11 or so.

Rayman !! Yes the camo R is all fixed up and I'v been riding it for about two weeks now. Im not running the camo plastics tho, I don't want to ruin that nice set so I'm running a set of red FullBores right now. I'm trying to get my ride height figured out on it.

With no one on the quad, I'm measuring like 8-3/4 inches at the pegs and 9 up front. Just wondering if you folks have found the ideal ride height numbers for a trail riders/XC setup. Any other shock setup for a XC 250R would be appreciated. I'm using a no-link frame and swingarm and a 17.25 inch Custom Axis shock.

Anybody have any info on where you have your rear shock crossover rings set at ?

I run somewhere in the 7's, like 7 1/2 on my 450r with 1/4 rake & seems like my 250r was 7 3/4 with 1/4-3/8 rake. I'm changing my suspension on it so I can't give exact numbers on it. I run 22" fronts and 20" rears as far as tires go.

can you guys please clarify if your measurements were taken with or without a rider on the quad.

Trail riders/XC riders. Lets get a little 'database' goin' here. Lets get some measurements and compare notes. The only measurement I'd like for now is the "ride height". Measure with the rider dressed in full riding gear and standing on the foot pegs with your hands on the handlebars. Take the first measurement right in front or underneath the footpeg. Measure from the ground to the bottom of the frame. Second measurement is taken exactly 21 inches in front of the foot peg measurement. Same deal here, measure from the ground to the bottom of the frame tubing. Lets hear what ya's got ? Remember, measure with the rider on the quad, dressed in your normal riding gear.

While sitting on the quad in full riding gear (about 200lbs), the front is 8" and under the footpeg is 8 3/4". I run standard travel dual rate axis in the front with +2 burgard arms and standard travel single rate axis in the rear with stock 88 linkage and a lonestar stock 88 length swinger. I run a 375# eibach spring in the rear. Tire selection is 21" front tires and 20" rear tires (all 4 are X-Rex with plenty of tread). Went riding on a poker run this past Sunday and didn't have any problem in the ruts and roots. Meat, where you located? I live in PA as well.

Great info spintly. From everything I've read so far, your front end should be just a lil' bit higher than the footpeg measurement. And yeah I'm from Coal Township which is right next to Trevorton.

"they said average xc ride high is 8-9 inches" I know, I've read this on GT Thunders site too. I assume the 8-9 inch ride height was taken on a 450. I always wondered if the 250R would be the same or if there was a "sweet spot" for aggressive trail riders. I should contact Custom Axis, but I'd like to see what you guys think first.

I'm 7.5 in the front and rear. 21 inch razr2 front tires and 20 inch razr2 rear tires. No-link rear shock. Custom Axis all the way around. I scrape my belly every once in a while when I'm zippin around the trails.

Hey Meat, I just remembered that I changed my front tires to a 21" from a 22" and never set the shocks to compensate for it. I am going to raise the shock bodies about an inch. That should put the front end higher than @ the footpeg. Glad I read this thread again.

After thinking about my RH numbers and how many times I've actually scraped the belly pan I think I'm going to keep the low RH. I'm going to lower my rear to 7.25 and keep the front at 7.5 and see what happens.

I've been out for eight all day long rides since May and for the most part we're racing out a coupla woods tracks that we laid out. I don't really remember any hard belly pan scrapes, and maybe only 3 or 4 light scrapes. I was looking at my belly skid last night and there were no big gashes in it anywhere. I think I can lower my ride height and be fine. I'm going to lower my setup till scraping the belly pan becomes a problem. Any thoughts ??

run as low as you can without causing problems.
