Hey guys I had my first race of the year on my new bike with the built motor and ran into some cooling issues.

The track was sandy and I was 2nd off the start ( right behind the only other TRX in the class ;) ) and got a mouthful of roost that packed my radiator right away.

To me the problem comes from the shrouds that are not blocking the dirt the way it should , dirt bike shrouds are vertical and would block the sand coming from the side which would solve the problme I had this weekend.

Also , Is an oversize radiator good ? PWR also makes a kit for the 06+ TRX that comes with a big radiator and an internal oil cooler. Its expensive but it might be worth it has anybody tried it ?

are you 100% sure the issue was from dirt in radiator fins? and not a bad cap, or overfull reservoir, or a water pump, or thermostat, or head gasket, do you have a working fan hooked up?

you can make some additional guarding to help keep the dirt out a lot of the guys that run mud have made many different type of added protection

but if you want the larger radiator it will still have issues if packed with dirt, I have never used one with an option for the oil cooler for the +06,

but I like the idea, how does the oil run to it?

what exactly was your cooling problem? most guys think that they have a problem when they really dont. what exactly happened that makes you think it got too hot?

Well it did get hot , after the race I had a 300F reading on the laser. The sticker on my head got all black from the heat !

Im pretty sure its because of the dirt that blocked the radiator , the fins dont work at all the way they are. They should be vertical like a dirt bike so i ordered a set.

I got a picture of the first curve that sent the bigger roost to the rad

I will probably add an oil cooler similar to what the 04-05 models had in the next few days if I can find some time.

another thing you can do is take a piece of mesh and cut it to fit the front of the radiator, that way the sand will hit that and fall off instead of getting in the radiator. if you havent already, wire your fan full time, remove the thermostat, and throw some water wetter in.

The kit is made by Jagg , the cooler itself looks a lot like the one Walsh uses for their KFX450r kit , so I suppose Walsh gets it from Jagg.

I ordered mine from my dealer and it came from the parts Canada catalog so if your dealer has a Parts unlimited catalog you can order it from them.

Its totally bolt-on and easy to install. it looks very reliable also . It adds more oil to the engine side which cant be a bad thing.

I cant wait to race on sunday , I really got my TRX how I wanted this year , never really thought about cooling before but this should makes everything works good.

from that pic with all that white smoke, are you sure that you dont have a blown head gasket??
