hi there is alot of play in my clutch,the rod only pushes out a 1/8 of an inch and doesn't look right where the cable connects to the motor it doesn' move the clutch till its got a 1/3 of a inch to go

Time for a new clutch cable or either your missing something on the adjustment somewhere.
As the clutch plates wear, free play will be taken out of the clutch lever.
If you have the old model clutch lift rod set up, with the rod, ball & top hat, could be the ball has got hot & welded itself to the rod & when that happens it will cause a lot of play in the clutch lever.
