Well this isn't good....I tried to change my oil and this just popped right off..... Should I just buy a used one or is there a good aftermarket option I should look into?

I have an aftermarket tank and no it wont cook your oil b/c its close to the header. You have more oil volume, therefore less is in the motor overall at a time-thus its cooler overall.

Which aftermarket one do you guys recommend? Or does anyone have a used one for sale?

well, you can get a used stock oil tank for 1/3 or 1/2 the price of a aftermarket oil tank, so I guess it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

The more I think about it I think I rather just get another used oil tank, I don't have any mods or anything to really need a nice new and expensive tank....Anyone have one for sale?

That or look up some local welders online. That could be repaired easily for not too much money. This happened to me a long time ago on a riding trip. I was in a pinch and took it to a boat shop and had it welded (they deal with aluminum a lot). The repair is much beefier and stronger so it won't rip out again. I still have the same oil tank on my machine to this day.

I had mine re-welded, same thing happened to me. Local shop did it and only charged me 20 bucks.

Ok I'm gonna try the re-weld first, all the used ones on ebay are like $10 cheaper then a brand new one and I can't find any for sale on here.....

i did the exact same thing. I didn't have time or money to order a new tank so i got it welded at an aluminum shop. Haven't had a problem. Been over a year now.
