for those that run a temp guage on ur bike i was curious how hot they should run average and wher is the "safe" line ? please include what kinda motor u have and fuel!

I kno a few guys one w 265 cylinder on race gas, one 265 pump gas, and one 330 on race gas. They all say they run between 150 and 175 degrees. Iv heard 200 r over is to HOT and iv also heard 200 is just fine and normal that u can push 220 and be ok? Im trying to get a ballpark number here for when i break in my new motor. Thanks in advance to those that chime in!

It is also going to matter where the gauge is located I.e. between the head and radiator or between the radiator and water pump. Between the head and radiator is going to have a higher temp than the radiator and water pump.

I used an ESR and now a digital and on hot days and racing alot in the sand Ill hit 200. Once I hit that I take it easy and let ot cool back down. Normal dune riding for me is 160-170's I believe.

310cc running on c12with the temp gauge directly in the head, runs 175ish with air temperature at 75.... 200 degrees on a hot 95+ degree air. hill climbing I've hit temps of 220

I run about 180, thats with gauge on outlet of radiator. 310pv, afco dual pass radiator andusing some kind of race gas. When its colder than 70 outside, it runs cold. when really cold, I block off half the radiator. i also use Evan npg-r coolant.

i have a esr 330 pv with walsh radiator and mine runs 180 to 220 out of the head from 70 deg. to 100 deg. out side the harder i run it the cooler it is.

Also running an afco, they are the best in my opinion. But never ran a Walsh. I'm pretty sure the stock rad wouldn't be enough to keep it cool. I run engine ice coolant. However the psi jug has massive coolant capacity.....

My bike likes to run a little hot no matter the jetting, It seems to be around 190-200. Iv been to 220 more then a couple times and 250 once or twice.

Iv tried t get it to run at 160-170 but I just can't seem to on the mx track.

I haven't had any problems with it yet. I try to keep an eye on it I have been riding without a front bumper for a while its kept it down a few degrees.

I'm hoping with some more power I can bring the heat down as I won't need to rev it as much.
