I have a Standard link Lonestar swingarm now, but I'm thinking of getting something else. I haven't decided what to get yet. I guess it depends on what kinda deals I come across!! What size motor are you runnin? I'm thinkin of having Arlan at LED build me a nice 330 or 350. So I can keep everything LRD based. Not to mention Arlan can build a hellva motor. Granted its not BTD motorsports built, but it should still be nice! LOL! Thanks Higgy!

Higgy,
I was just at Arlan's shop last week having a bore job done on an LRD motor I recently purchased (350PV), Arlan commented that he built the engine i brought in (LRD serial numbers still in his books), if you are interested in hearing what i discovered about Arlan's engine build send me a PM and i'll give you the 411.

Bottom line....Save your money.

LRD built 300 power valve. Its one of bill ballance's old gncc motors. Runs good.

Meat's LRD is one of my all time favorite 250R's. He posted his build thread on BansheeHQ a couple years ago of this quad and that's what made me get rid of the Banshee and get a 250R, he's got a lot of pictures of it.

I wanna see the photos of that swingarm because it looks pretty sick from what I can see so far. So why don't you hook us up with some full color pics of a clean bike.

The swing arm is an ARS/FX and its a no-link setup. The rear shock is a 17.25 Custom Axis with a fresh spring and re-vavle for my specs. I'm setting up the ride height right now, I have a topic started. Here's some swingarm and shock pics

This is what it looks like now. Camo plastics are removed and stored away, old red Fullbores installed. Thee are the only two pics I have where the quad is clean.

Nice very nice Meat!! That bike sure seems to sit low? I'm diggin that swinger and the arms. I can't say that I've seen that company before! They seem to have a style all their own!! I really like your bike though. Its a little different then you normally see. Thats what I like about it! Thanks for the pics Higgy!

Ars/fx makes some very nice stuff, I have it on my 450 and Really wanted it on my Arens build...

Nice quads their fella's!

"That bike sure seems to sit low?" The pics of the clean red quad I don't have any preload on the rear shock and very little preload on the front, I've already jacked up the preload, raising my ride height to a better number for pennsylvania trail riding. Thats why I started a new thread about XC ride height info. Hopefully we can gather some good info on XC ride height.

"I can't say that I've seen that company before!" ARS/fx has been around since 2004-05. The arms were the first reverse gullwing style arms made for XC racing. ARS/FX made components for the 250R and Bill Ballances last championship on a 250R had ARS/fx arms on it. Bill switched to a YFZ in 2004 or 05 and he kept the ARS/FX sponsorship. He won at least 4 or 5 GNCC Pro champions ships with the ARS/fx arms. Multiple GNCC Women's class champ traci cecco won a few of her championships with ars/fx arms. Matt Smiley ran ARZ-fx arms on his last year on a 250R. I bought my set new, in bare metal, from Wes Stone and he said he got em from Smiley. The swingarm is pretty rare. ARS/FX makes crazy awesome swingarms, super beefy XC swingarms. They're real popular for the YFZ. My riding buddy has ARS/fx arms and swingarm on his YFZ480. Jeremiah Jones ran ARS/FX on the last year he raced 250Rs. He used their MX version. My a-arms are stock width and my swingarm is stock length. ARS/fx made for the 250R are super hard to find. Iv'e only seen my swingarm once and that was Andy Lagzdins' build that he did here at ATVRiders. ARS/fx arms were designed with the input of Mike Hallock from Custom Axis, they designed the whole setup together and seven out of ten quads running ARS/Fx arms will be running Custom Axis shocks. But Hallock left CA and now works for a shock company named "Exit" and now they're partners with ARS/fx. Three out of ten quads running ARS/fx arms will be running Exit shocks. My buddy with the YFZ480 has ARS/fx arms and swingarm with Exit shocks all the way around. They're a bad *** shock and I would have voted for them in the "best shock" poll if they were included.

Here's my buds YFZ... and my R

Alot of these smaller companies or at least companies that don't make alot of parts for the 250r's I haven't heard much about. I just bought my 250r about 2 years ago and didn't start building it until about 1 year ago. So alot of this stuff is new to me. I'm a retired 2-stroke dirtbike Mxer. I love the dunes so I started getting into building quads about 2 years ago. I had 2 bikes put together last summer, but blew up my bike on the second ride so I've been rebuilding since then. I hope to have my Lobo finished in the next 2 months so I can get some ridding in. So forgive me if I my aftermarket ATV part knowledge is alittle limited. I spent alot of my time working on and building dirtbikes! LOL. Thanks for the education though, lol! Thanks Higgy!

Hey Meat,
Long time since "coal fest 2005", nice to see your change over to a 250R has stuck with you. Just a heads up, my LRD frame that I ran for trail riding for 4-5 years had so many cracks in it when I went through it for a rebuild that I had to get another frame. Keep a close eye on it.

Meat, Oh no biggie thats what this thread is suppose to be about I wanted to get info on LRD bikes and what people have done to them. I was gonna run the Pro-trax frontend on my bike, but I think I might go a different route. I kind like those Gibson A-arm, but I'm not sure?? We'll see what kinda deals I come across?
Jon370r So those frames crack alot huh? My will definalty be riddin, so I guess I'm gonna have to keep and eye on it too.

Jon !! howzitgoin ? You sir are the man who got me hooked on the 250R. I watched you spankin' Banshees on your 250R, so right after CoalFest, which I think was in 2004, I went out and bought my '89 R. Iv been riding my 250R ever since.

I'm already keeping a close eye on my frame for cracks. All frames are gunna develop cracks, I just don't need any of those big "season ruining" frame cracks.

Well I'll keep an eye on this thread and hopefully you'll have a relatively easy build. Plan on buying longer A-arm bolts and shock bolts. You'll prolly need to fab up a petcock mount too. I think I needed to buy a longer front motor mount bolt too. The hardest part about my build was the airbox setup for the no-link rear shock. But you won't have that problem if your frame is made for a linkage type suspension.

I'd take a Pro-trax front end over a Gibson any day. Hell I'd take a Pro-trax front end over ANY other A-arm setup.

Meat, I plan on running the pro-trax frontend on my Laeger frame. So thats why I wanna get another set of a-arms and shocks. There's a set of Gison arms with axis shocks on Flea bay for $1400 OBO. Thats not to bad of a deal!! I was thinking of offering him like $1100 or $1200 for the set-up. The shocks are brand new never ran, the arms are used, but look to be in good shape. I don't know we'll see??

Higgy,
I made a petcock mount for my frame and it's worked well, i will be doing another out of alumn, since you live local you're welcome to come take a look....I was advised to run the best affordable suspension on our style frames, run a little on the soft side will reduce the chance of cracking.

Hondamancbr03- That sounds good man, I'm gonna have to figure out a way to mount the petcock and the gas tank. I hear that the OEM style plastics are the only ones that fit real good too. Have you had issues with this as well? Thanks Higgy!

I'm running Fullbore plastic and everything mounts up good, no alignment issues. I'm about to put the motor back in so i'll take a picture of my headstay and rear tank mount and send it your way.
