Why not take the opportunity to upgrade to an aftermarket dual row carrier? I've seem them all over ebay for way less than $270.

Like this for example? What will a dual row carrier do that a stock one wont?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-TRX400EX-DUAL-ROW-BEARING-CARRIER-TRX-400EX-99-09-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a5e0a5b8QQitemZ29054 5771960QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_ 1550wt_758

Before i buy it tho It is the carrier for sure right?

Thanks for all the help.

carriers def messed up, the dual row has 2 sets of bearings on each side for a total of 4 bearings.

the hub can probably be saved but its hard to tell from the pic.

some of the ebay ones are pretty nice. lonestar ones are pretty nice along with some others if you are looking. just browse 400ex carrier and see what you find on ebay.

Im looking now i see a lonestar one for 129.95 (i see you cant post links with ebay idk why) which is in my price range. What is the "hub" you talked about.

Between these two.

the sprocket hub looked to be tore up a bit but didnt look too bad. it might just be full of filings from the carrier or the edge of the carrier (which after further examination is probably what it is)

theres a <break> thing that gets put in them when posted on here sometimes. you could try to it with the http:// link insert button on the reply thing but im not sure if it will work that way either.

the lonestar ones are pretty nice, if i had to buy one, it would be that.

Now i know what your talking about,I saw that to it broke without me knowing it and whenever i turned the axel shifted and rubbed the hub for about 10mins before i found it out. I don't think it rubbed to bad, just rubbed off the dirt.

both look good imo, id probably get the one that has the grease zert in it, that will make them last longer since you can take it apart and pump grease into it easily.

These are both a big improvement on stock correct? What will i notice?

Thanks so much this would have taken so long for me to find out on my own.

you wont notice much, there shouldnt be any movement of the axle anyway.

but your bearing life will be much better since they are only taking 1/4 of the weight of your axle and such instead of 1/2 with only 2 bearings.

That makes sense. Thanks for all your help and time.

I have an east coast one on my 300ex. Haven't had to change the bearings in years and I inspect them quite often.
