Shifting problem need help!!!

my buddy went to ride his 06 ltr today and the shifter seemed really loose and wouldnt shift anwhere higher then second gear i thought my shifter was loose so i tightened it just to make sure and it seems that the whole pin that it connects to has alot of play in it and wont allow me to shift. Is the whole pin stripped, is this common? ive searched other shifting problems on the ltr and it seems that it could of popped out of place? how do i fix this

grab ahold of your shifter and see if u can push it in and out of the case, if so the circlip behind the shifter came out of its groove.

alright ill tell him to give it a shot but i beleive it was only loose when pushing the shifter up and down rather then in and out of the case

i didnt notice mine was going in and out either till i really started messing with it a lil, but if this is not it your best bet would be to remove the clutch side cover and take a gander,

sounds like the shift pin broke inside the case
