I took my headers off and did the header weld grind. While they was off I took a wire brush on a drill and cleaned up my headers from where the heat turned them a dark color. My question is not 10 mins after I did this they turned right back to a dark color. Not really blue they kinda look plated? Is this normal for stock headers to turn this color. Can some of y'all show me y'alls head pipes stock are aftermarket.

Also will buying a aftermarket head pipe stop this discoloration on the headers from the heat? Il post a pic you might have to zoom in to see them well and see what I'm talking about. Any help on this I would really appreciate cause I hate the way it looks.

That is completely normal for stainless steel headers to do that. They will change to a gold/brown color from the heat.

If you want a nice chrome look without it changing colors you can have your pipe ceramic coated. I had mine done at a local powdercoating shop and then polished it to a shine with some Mother's billet polish and a shop towel. Looks pretty nice and stays nice and shiny without discoloring.

Like this color? its kinda hard for me to see in your pic, my pic may also be hard to see, let me know Ill get a better pic today.

I did the same wire wheel trick on mine, they looked great and never changed color after, usually the change in color would indicate lean jetting.

Mine never changed color again after I re-did the header and jetted better. Keep in mind I wire wheeled mine about 6 years ago.

Yep looks just like mine John, but they been like this since I first got it. Well I say since I first got it it was actually a lil after I got it because I bought it brand new. So I just wondering if it's normal for the color and also does header wrap stay on good I might just do that to hide it.
