you dont have to but i would suggest checking your valve clearances before you do it. the T mark on the wheel will not be in the same spot any more after the key is installed.

all of those mods will make for a great running machine.

i bought it with about 50hrs on it and they barelt rode it. I've probably put near 100 im guessing so would a valve check really be necessary or would you do it just to make sure?

it would probably be just to check it since they dont really move or get out of adjustment easy.

if you do it now, you wont have to do it for a while. you will have half of it tore down anyway, do the check just for piece of mind if anything. you wont be able to line it up in the hole any more if you have to do it again.

preventative maintenance= a better trip

putting off because it doesnt have alot of hours on it= possible break down and alot of walking

nope, just the caps have to come off. it is a 23mm i believe will get the caps off.

the side case needs a new gasket though most likely. the stock ones are glued on and will tear when you pull the cover off.

if you dont have a socket they can be tricky to get with anything else. theres not enough material on them to use a crescent wrench on them easily. i know it is either a 23 or 24 but believe it is a 23. I just used it last week, i cant believe i cant remember for sure.

good luck with it! they shouldnt be bad with a socket, they are only torqued down to something like 8 ft lbs. they dont get cranked real tight. they will crack and break otherwise.
