Can I swap a 05 newer motor into pre 05 frame

Ok I have my wifes quad and it has a lot of suspension etc done to it and dont want to sell it to start over. Basically im curious if I can get 05 or newer motor and install in my pre 05 honda 400ex so she has reverse? Can it be done, how hard etc????

basicly it bolts up with a few mods for the reverse lever and cable.

Easy is gonna depend on how easy your's will come apart... if the engine comes out easy then goin in is easy...
