Ok I trying to tune in this 310 can't get her to idle all that good I went from 50-45 pilot . pull the choke and she dies before she is warmed up . She should idle high if I did that . My ? Is do you guys think 42 pilot to small . I've tuned many bikes one of my first one was a h1 500 on that I scratched my head a lil and got it . Now this 310 giving me s**t . Try 2 different carbs still nothing . Plug color shows she is rich . I've tuned 250r with a 42 pilot but she was a stock motor.

A 42? Seems kinda small. What size carb?
I ran a 39 pwk with a 48 pilot and 178 main on my esr 310 race motor. You never (well, shouldn't) spend time idling on the race track.
That size pilot (48) is even smaller than the 52 that I would run on a trail quad. You spend more time in that range on the carb when on the trails.

When I had my ESR 310, I ran a 42 pilot in my 38 Airstriker carb without any issues.;)

Plug gap at .19 ima try 18
Clean filter

Just changed the needle to second postion from the top. No change in idle so I dropped a 42 pilot in and she would actually idle stronger than before. she won't just idle for a 30 seconds now . Tomorrow ill go test her out but ima drop a bigger main since I dropped my needle down a clip just to be safe .

if ur needle was already at the top then that would make it lean! if u went down from there then that alone will fatten it up so ur main might b ok. what size do u have in it? i Always run my needle in the middle clip position. On my CT 310 i ran a 48-50 pilot and 178-182 main

I was running 3rd clip then 4th clip drop to 2nd clip from top and pilot jet to 42. main jet was perfect I was out in the feild so I tested it . Now that I lean up the needle I'm need to fat up my main jet .just to be safe . Im still a lil worried that 42 is to small . But now when I pull out the mixture screw it actually picks up idle .

Ok I have 2 different slides . One has a notch in it and the other has no notch . The notch runs richer same #7 stamped on it . So I dropped in the non-notched slide and she ran alot better on bottom . I currently running 45 pilot needle 2nd clip and 178 main . The needle in the 3rd clip bogged on bottom with a 175 main . I bumped up the main raised a clip position . Now running lean on top . Got to wait intill Monday to get some more jets . I got a 180 just misplaced it prolly at bobizzle shop .

When in doubt change the carb . I put a good carb on as its a friends test carb . He also let me borrow a janssen super coil for the weekend . To bad he didn't have a spare cr ignition . But I'm glad to get my bike fixed . I have some jet changing up one on main and down on pilot
