.....so bring it on, and lets beat up that old dead horse.

I like my Twisty,
as do most "Old Farts" I know, like me.

It's what we learned on, and it's what feels right.
Yeah, yeah,... I know,....
"but if you get your arms yanked,.. you go WOT"
Waaaa ! you all claim to be so fast anyway, so what's the problem ?

i like my thumb throttle and know i would not like a twist on an atv. I have tried some and just dont like the action of them. I think i used a motion pro on a 250ex and was not impressed with it. lol

though i would like to try a duel gasser sometime. Im sure the twist would be nice for long roads and such that you can hold it constant.

just my .02 though,

most of the older guys i know like the thumb throttles around here.

For dirt bike or motorcycle i like the twisty because you're must more dependent on the steering so you can't let your hand loose as easily to grab a thumb throttle.

On quads, you're all over the machine so it's nice to be able to have your hand hanging halfway on the grip and still be pushing throttle. Basically on an atv your hand doesn't stay steady enough to maintain the good old twister.

On the dirt bikes your hand stays more steady because it's a smoother ride, you aren't getting bucked around, u just go up or down on the dirtbikes haha, quads have 4 tires that smack into everything haha.

man that would be kicking! thought you just chilled in the dyno section WI, glad to see you browse this one too.

maybe a duel gasser of this style

http://www.lulusoso.com/upload/20110510/Marine_Boat_Throttle_Control_Lever_Engine_Control. jpg

that would make a great addition, big levers so you dont have to push that small one. that would eliminate any sore thumbs.

one for forward and an optional one for reverse!

best of both worlds.

why not run both the wheel and the levers?

I like the twist throttle better, I bought a twist throttle and fat grips because of a accident I had, I needed something to grip easier that was more solid then the regular grip and thumb throttle setup.

I tried thumb throttle extension's, they helped ALOT and I recommend them for thumb throttle user's. Then I tried bigger grip's and that also helped alot, for me anyway. A friend of mine said "try out my dirtbike and see if the twist throttle help's".

So now I have a twist throttle and like it better then the other setup's, It also give's the bar's a cleaner look.

Here's something to think about????

Jetski's....Some have reverse type thumb throttle's that you grab with your two finger's instead of the thumb, Ive been wanting to try that for a long time. It could fit just under the front brake lever.

Any thought's?

What about a lawnmower throttle with the turtle and the rabbit?

It seems like I remember reading that someone installed a jet-ski throttle on a quad (pull back with two fingers). But it was a long time ago, and I never saw pictures.

in line with Johndoes suggestion, Throttle extenders are nice too. My wife had complained about hand cramps, and I looked into the available extenders.
I didn't like most of the ones you can buy for one reason or another,... So I made my own, and she loved it.

here's a link to that old thread,

http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=370765&highlight=more+thumb

but with all the good joking here, I must admit,... I never even THOUGHT about the 2 finger pull type for a jetski !
Hell,... I think she might like that even BETTER !
She is not an aggressive rider AT ALL.
She just likes to putt-putt, and go for a casual cruise.
The jetski throttle just might be better for her !

HMmmmm,.. off to ebay I go.....

Thanks for the suggestion.

that is a good idea john, i never thought of that.

gold finger also makes snowmobile/atv ones that are 2 finger throttle levers.

http://www.fullthrottleinc.com/catalog.htm

they might not be too bad. none for hondas but another one may work. maybe the yamaha ones would work or something.

had a twisty on the 300ex im thinking about picking on up for the 400 just to see...i like thumb and its fine but i learned to race around with a twisterrr :D and it never gave me problems on hills or having my arms yanked STAY LOOSE and roll with it.
