View Full Version : 87mm piston boring
I have a wiseco 87mm piston. I'll be boring and honing the cylinder in my auto class, but what do I bore the cylinder to? Bigger than 87 for the rings and clearance right?
I would call wiseco but they're closed and Im doing the work tomorrow.

Per the Factory Service Manual,
(page 1-7),
for the STOCK Piston and Cylinder specs:
Piston O.D. at 15 (0.6) from bottom, 84.960 - 84.985 (3.3449 - 3.3459),
service limit- 84.880 (3.3417)
Cylinder to piston clearance, 0.015 - 0.050 (0.0006 - 0.0020),
service limit- 0.10 (0.004)
I can't imagine that a 87mm piston would be much different than that, but I could be wrong.
you should certainly VERIFY that with the piston manufacturers recommendations.
Called them yesterday. It's 2 thousandths. Thanks guys.
