Guys I just picked up a 03 YZF dirt bike that has only been run for about 6 tanks. Needless to say the carb was in need of service. Upon dissassembly I discovered the hot start plunger is siezed in the down position. I was only able to start the bike and ride it around the block, so I dont have any other experience with these 450 engines.

My question is should I just remove the Hotstart assembly from the handlebars and block it off at the carb, leaving the siezed plunger in place. I have heard guys say that these bikes dont need the hot start if they are jetted properly. I have also had guys say I need it.

OK after some research I discovered that your YFZ quads dont even have a hot start lever like my YFZ dirt bike does. So I can use a cap from the YFZ carb to blockoff the Hot Start function.

QUESTION REVISED HERE. Do any of you YFZ quad guys ever have starting issues when your quad is extremely hot?

Answering the above question would ease my mind in removing my hot start from my MX bike.
