headlight question?

i have a 87 trx259r and looking too change up the look alite bit.i already have a quad tech hood,but its to nice to beat up when racing,i always wanted a 88-89 because of the headlight.maiers makes a hood with the light built in,but my question is can u take a stock 87 headlight and fit it into the hood like the orginal 88-89 or do i need a 88-89 headlight?

Some people use a 300ex headlight. It is the same except there is no adjustment spring like on the 88-89 250r headlight. Use some jb weld and add the tab to a 300ex headlight, it will be the cheapest way to go.
