Was just wondering how the 310 kit performed in the 89 250R's. Would it be able to take a piped banshee. Assuming that both riders we equal weight and riding skill and they were racing on concret and had good traction? Does anyone have any experince with the 310 kit in the R's? I noticed that not alot of people have them? Anything else to watch out for on an 89 R? Any clue as to what the horse power and top speed of a 310? Thanks

I can only tell you that on sand my old 310 ran about even with piped and dialed in banshee's. The last time I ran it at Winchester on the flat the fastest banshee did 72mph. I did 71mph all others banshee's (8) were in the 63 to 71mph range on radar. Next fastetst R was a piped 89 and it did 64mph. The sand was heavy and chopped up temp was in the 60's. Before anyone gets pissed and says their r or shee does 150mph up comp hill just remember that on that day thats what the speeds were.

the weight thing will never the be same ..banshee's heavier..
ESR says there 310 pv should be around 52-55 hp depending how it is set-up & if memory serves me correctly

well i've had some expiriance. I raced a 310R up a bunch of hills in little saharah with my banshee, my expiriance was his wasn't the best just because mine is a '98 and his was a '89, My shee is piped ported polished bored.20 over, clamp on K&N's,boost bottle, and thats all.... for the motor..(the shee is for sale) ,I waisted him, on flat in sand and up hill. we are the same weight and about the same skill, but he had releators on and I had trakkers on(flatter v shaped sand tire)

i would have no problem what so ever building a 310R that would kill a piped and headed banshee in drags.

They are pretty close. It wouldn't be hard to make a 310R waste a piped banshee, and it wouldn't take much work to make a banshee beat up 310R's. The banshee weighs about 50lbs more (375 vs 325). I think it would come down to who did the 310, and riding ability. There are 310R's out there that will waste a lot more than piped banshees :macho

Thats it!!? I was expecting more. I have read that the PSI 265 PV makes 60hp. I am wondering what a ESR 265 PV will make...

Yeah, 60hp, on a powerband about 700rpm wide and a motor that will never finish a race. LOL jk
Spader or one of those top riders dropped PSI as a sponsor mid season because they were getting too many DNF's on PSI motors. HP doesn't mean anything if it's over a really narrow range and your motor is running on the ragged edge. Smooth lower HP bikes are usually faster than super peaky high HP bikes. Thats why Banshee's usually don't do well on trails, MX, etc.
If you just want a drag machine I'd probably go with a banshee, and feed it lots of alcohol ;)

I would build a big bore Honda on alky in a drag chassis. it will out run most all the banshees and it is still reliable and fun to ride.

if you are talkin about a sotck bore banshee with just pipes a good 310 should have no problem at all...my CT 310 kills everything all day long in drag races...and by the way i did i thread on this a while back with my CT vs. a stock blaze and was really dissapointed. You guys had me believen he would give me a run for my money...lol... We lined them up and the 310 screamed away with ease.

a 310 pv motor would kill a piped shee

My R is on a true 250cc bore, all mods except a carb (boyessen float bowl on my stock carb). I can easily keep up with a piped shee (most have a lil more than just pipes), but have yet to beat one (came soooo close many, many times).

Yea a PV 310 will take a piped shee...But if the shee has motor work then its a toss up.
