View Full Version : Video Camera???

Hey all!! I am looking to start making some small time films at MX tracks, and maybe making a penny or two making some videos for some local buisnesses in my hometown and college... If you guys could give me some idea's on a good video camera that is good all around?? Back in HS i was big into video stuff but am way to far behind it technology right now...

Videographer Magazine puts out an extensive yearly comparisson of all the cameras. Google the website, its probably on there.

Personally I use my Sony HVR-A1J. 5 years old and going strong.

If they are small films (like nothing professional) the Canon powershot S2 IS is a cheap way to start off. It doesn't pick up loud sound all that well (by loud i mean like airhorn close-up loud) but it takes nice clear pictures and records perfect videos. This is used with a powershot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a8hRE3jQlw) Remember it isn't the greatest camera in the world, but something great to start off with.
It also has great fish eye control.

I have a canon powershot SD1400 IS and it is an awesome camera, shoots 720p hd video and 14mp pictures... and it's only about 180$

Thanks for all the info guys!!!!!! I am def on a budget, but want to still have top notch quality.... I am not a sucker for features except stabilization and sound quality...
