I'm using a 38mm Airstryker for my build, and I thought read in a thread here awhile back that an 85 ATC 250r cable works. I'm using the factory thumb throttle. Thanks guys.

Motion Pro part number 01-0604 is what you want. It's for a stock 250r thumb throttle to a 38mm PWK carb (or any Keihin carb larger than stock).

Your carb MUST have the cap on it, and it must have the fitting at the top for a cable. The stock 250r cable has the carburetor cap built into it, the motion pro cable does not have the cap.

I can tell you from personal experience that this one works, I've got a couple of them, but I had to order directly from Motion Pro. I know that Parts Unlimited has Motion Pro products, tools, and cables, they don't have all the specialty cables like this one.

I've also heard that Parts Unlimited part number 17910-964-000 also works, and it's for an 83-85 ATC, and since it's a regular Parts Unlimited catalog item, you could probably get it through your local dealer, but I don't know that with 100% certainty like the Motion Pro cable, because I've never used this one. I've used the Motion Pro.

A stock cable will work fine as long as you remove the carb cap. Take a dremel cut off wheel and carefully cut the brass end so you can remove it. Don't remove anymore off the end and it will work fine as long as you don't fray the cable.
