Hey All,

^I sent the header off, so it will be about 2 or 3 weeks before it gets back. I'll try to do the HID headlight upgrade this coming week as well.

Welcome to the forum, really nice looking 4 hundy!

The lexx exhaust I have and like alot, its very adjustable and easy to break down the endcap. Rocky mtn atv sells all kinds of tunable tips for it, in stock form its pretty quiet. With the quiet tip removed I have a nice power gain. my only complaint is that the header mid pipe it comes with isnt very tight on the stock 4 hundy header. So i originally got a 2 inch muffler clamp and tightened it and it was fine. I then welded on a piece of 2 inch car exhaust pipe to the end of the header and simply made it slip on like the stock system. The muffler clamp worked fine and was 2 bucks tho.

The curtis sparks exhaust will be LOUD,its a racing exhaust. Although it and the CT racing setup are worth every penny due to the power they deliver

I have the same handlbars, they are very strong and Ive only bent them once. I am 6ft and they are near perfect height for me standing or sitting-an inch higher would be nice just for comfort.

Stage 2 hotcam will be good, might lose some power b/c down low as you have a stock engine and already said. Worst case you can resell it here and people will buy it.

get yourself some new front shocks, either off a honda 450r or a yamaha yfz.

^4.) Is this a bolt and go muffler for the stock header and how loud do you think it will be? I might just do the remove the welds mod on the stock header and have it coated to hold me off.

Your link doesnt work.

When you post ebay links here, uncheck the box that says "parse URLs" and then ebay links will work right-its some kinda glitch in the forum software.

^Fixed.

P.S. I sent the eBay seller a message asking if it was a direct bolt-on muffler to the stock header, but I figured it was be good to ask here first.

Same one I got, refer to the above post I made about it. Yes it fits, yes you need to clamp it down a bit more than the slip on offers. yesits a nice exhaust too lol.

Oops lol. Sorry for the double question. I'll get that one this weekend then. Looks like I'm almost done with my mods list :D. Did you dremel out the welds on your header? Are there any aftermarket ones you would recommend with the LEXX exhaust that will show gains?

Welcome to the forum.
It's nice to see a new guy come on here, who has actually read some of the threads, and has done some of his "homework".
Nice looking Fo'Hundy you got there, and some nice new goodies too.
Welcome to the Disease.

Hahaha,... you say your almost done with your mods ???... Well, maybe so,...
(just until the next thing pops up that you will like, and want to do to your machine)

The mods are N E V E R done, but with time, you'll come to better understand the disease, and come to terms with it. It's OK,... don't sweat it,... stronger men have tried to beat it and failed. Welcome to the club. :D

X2 on getting the front shocks upgraded. It makes a HUGE difference in better handleing. 450r fronts (or YZ fronts), w/ aftermarket springs are the best "Bang for your Buck".
lots of threads on here about how to do them.

then when you "Think" you are all done,...
check into one of these,..

These things are worth their weight in GOLD !

If you are going to stay with the stage 2 Hotcam, on your stock bore and compression, you might also want to consider a timing advance key too. this will help to restore some of the bottom end that you will probably lose with the stage 2 cam.

Oh yeah,... I don't remember if you had already mentioned doing it,....
But, '04-'05 450r Carbs will compliment the overall package quite nicely.
(lots of threads on that mod too)

See ???,... Like I said,...
Your Never REALLY Done !

Hahaha, Welcome to the Forums,

@tri5ron - Lol. Thanks for the post bro. Looks like I'm not done after all :D. Do you think a stage 1 cam would work out better? I'll have to do the 450r shocks with some aftermarket springs of some sort. I'll search a few threads and see what is best suited for me. The eBay link is broken :/. I've had that happen to me a lot on here. I've had to repost them about 3 or 4 times to get them to work.

^I got it off eBay. I paid $103 for it. It is brand new with zero miles on the intake kit. I did a test fit and found it I can not use it with the airbox. It's all yours if you want it.

Curious, but did the lexx come with that nice adapter to go from the header to the midpipe on the muffler?

One I got years ago did not and I had to modify mine to work better b/c it originally came with a stupid collar that didnt do much.

make sure to use plenty of anti sieze on the 2 allen head bolts on the frame skid plate that go into the aluminum "J" hooks. then jam silicone in the top of the threads so dirt doesnt get down into them. i just tried to take mine off with nothing going good.

MUCH WELCOME & Nice "start off" setup. I like how you immediately upgraded your EX front shocks with R's. Next consider the 06+ TRX brake/spindle upgrade.
The Stage 2 will do just fine in a stock EX motor. You will really start noticing more difference after few other top end upgrades. We all know how it feels.... JUST CANT WAIT :eek2:
GOOD LUCK

Wish I thought of that lol. Instead I cut off the very end except the flange on the stock header, welded 2" exhaust car tube on it and cut slits into the midpipe of the lexx then took a band clamp and snugged up. Worked good but thats easier lol.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think I almost have her the way I want her for a while. After the last upgrade gets back, I might look into getting a spare motor and build it a 87mm 416 11.1, or 12.1, but that will be later on down the road in the future. I'm currently building a SE-R that will be taking up my time for a while. Hi-reso pics to come......., stay tuned ;).

Looking very good Sleeper,

Now just look for a set of Works Triple Rate Springs, (or something comparable), to go on those front shocks, and also seriously consider one of these,...

Nice piece. Looks like a most have. I just put it on my watch list. I already felt the improvement in the 450r front shocks, how much more will the works improve the ride and do they come in red?

If you already are impressed with the improvements the front shocks made with the stock 450r springs,...
You will be in for a very pleasant surprise, once you go to the upgraded springs.

They do make quite a bit of difference, and yeah,... I know they are another $200 bucks,... But they are well worth it.

Besides, the actual spring rates you end up with, are specifically intended for your particular riding weight.
The spring packs come in various combinations, relative to your rider weight, A-arm length, and style of riding.

I am running stock A-arms, with 1" wider front rims. I am 6' tall, and my rider weight is about 180 lbs.
I have the 600/600/215 spring set.
(thanks Pipeless)

I am so happy with mine, that I honestly do not feel the need to go the next step, and have them re-valved.

Many on here have,.... and that is Great for them.
I'm not saying it would'nt be nice.
I'm sure it is nice.
I'm just saying that I personally do not see the NEED to send them out, and spend the extra cash on having them revalved.

I went with the springs and stabilizer first,....
and was going to see how I liked the 450r shocks, w/ triple rate springs, w/ the stabilizer all working together.

If at that point,.... I felt I needed more,....
Then I would consider doing the re-valve.

Well,... as it turned out,...
The above listed combo, is quite fine for me, just the way it is.

I can now rip down whoop/rock/rut infested trails,... PINNED IN 5TH,.... That before, I was getting nervous at top of 3rd, to middle of 4th.

Hell, it will handle now, far better, and faster than I usually care to ride ! (that's a good thing), & I can honestly say, that the quad is better than I am,... (and I like it that way).

THEN,...... adding the Stabilizer to the mix,....
It's a freakin' Cadillac now.
I have LITERALLY peeled back the bead on the front rims, from hitting soccer ball sized rocks at full speed.

Something, that by all rights, should have ripped the handlebars right out of my hands, possibly breaking my thumbs, and sent me flying over the bars like a damn seagull.

Was I riding over my head ???, Was I going faster than I should have been going ???
You BET I WAS ! But instead of that happening,...

The shocks sucked up the hit,...
and the stabilizer held the bars straight,...
I stayed on top of the bike,...
and I never even knew the rim was twisted, until I got back to camp, and was sitting in my chair drinking a cold brew.
I looked over at the quad, and saw this...
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0626.jpg

Tell me you can pull off a hit like that, on stock shocks, without a good stabilizer, and not crash hard,....

...and I'll believe it when I see it ! LOL!!!

I've said many times before,... and I'll say it again,...

The 450r shocks, the triple rate springs, and the CCP steering stabilizer,...
Are HANDS DOWN ! , The BEST mods I have ever done to my 400EX !

When my piggy bank can handle it, I'll be looking to get one of the XC links for the rear end, and I feel I'll be just about done with the mods.
(of course I don't actually BELIEVE that),... Hell, I'm the Supreme Poo-Baah, of the A.A.D.S. riders of America !....
OF COURSE there will be more mods in the future,....
Who am I kidding ??? :D

oh and btw- If the springs DON'T come in red, for your riding weight,....
(Krylon paint is very cheap) :D :D :D :D

^Thanks man.

UPDATE:

1.) I'm going to sale the stage 2 HOT CAM and pick up a STAGE 1 HOT CAM in place of it since my motor is still stock and I mainly trail ride.

2.) Just ordered a Curtis Sparks advance key that should be here this weekend.

3.) Still waiting on my honed stock header that I had chromex coated to show up.

4.)The HIGH QUALITY eBay steering stabilizer from that CNC guy is in the works.

5.) I'm still interested in the 450r carb MOD, but I need to do some more reading up on it.

Today's purchases

1.) Ordered the STAGE 1 HOTCAM
2.) CCP steering stabilizer
3.) 450r carb to 400ex adapter

Now I'm just waiting on this 450r carb that I'm watching on eBay to narrow down to the last day. I really wish I had my header back to post pics of, but I sent it off with my trippled stepped header that is not complete yet.

EDIT:

4.) 05 450r low mileage carb.
5.) 450r throttle cable.

^I sent it to a guy that lives in Washington (the state) that was building a mid pipe for my spec'd racing header for my SE-R. I sent him my 4wheeler header with it to have it dremeled/coated. Cost was like $150 or $160 for the coating.

P.S. Full updates with pics on the first page.
