I bought what I thought was a 02 CRF cam from a member off this site and I think I might have got taken. The stock cam I removed from my engine has no markings on it and the one I bought also has no markings on it. I measured the lobes on the stock cam and on the one I bought and they seem to be the same specs. Is there any other way to tell. Also does anyone know if the difference is in the lift or is it in the duration of the cam?

What year bike? The 04/05 stock cam has two rings on the end of the cam. This is a picture of a 04/05 HRC cam, it has three rings.
The 02CRF has no rings, but I don't know about any markings, I don't know if this helps you, but it's all I have.

Honda 2002 CRF Cam - Part # 14110-MEB-670

A good all around cam, strong bottom and really strong mid range with a decent top end as well.
Intake Lift(inches): .380"
Exhaust Lift(inches): .356"
Intake Lobe Center (degrees): 106.5
Exhaust Lobe Center (degrees): 107
Intake Duration (degrees at .040"): 249
Exhaust Duration (degrees at .040"): 272
Intake Open / Close: 18 btc/51 abc
Exhaust Open / Close: 63 bbc/29 atc
Lobe Separation Angle: 106.75
Overlap: 47

all CRF cams have no grooves and are only able to identify by checking the intake and exhaust lift

As Ruf said, The stock 04/05 has 2 rings, and the stock 06+ cam has no groove.

I was told that the cam with the two rings at the end was a HRC cam. I was told that the stock cam had no rings at the end. It seems that everyone has a different opion. The shop that told me this also showed me a stock can and what they say is a hrc cam and there is a big difference in the two cams. I'm confused I think I'm just going to my local dealer and order a 02 CRF cam and be done with it.
