having my mx 400 rebuilt so i can race while my yfz450r is in the shop with a bent frame. on a rough guess, how much hp would the following make?

JE 416 piston 11:1
Hotcam stage 2
Ported Head
Slip on HMF sport series


i was told about 35hp. does this seem right? i know its nowhere near the 44hp yfzr but it will have to do for a few months, besides i miss racing my ex. i loved that thing!

That would be about right.
Add a properly jetted 450r carb and get a couple more hp.

Im honestly not sure where they pull the numbers out of. Yes a YFZ has 44hp apparently-I think its closer to 40, the 450R has about 40hp as well.

Id say with mods im with Ron on this, 35hp is attainable, throw a 450r of FCR carb in it and expect more too.

^hes racing so im sure the 450 is not stock, but i agree with the numbers these guys are talking about.

my yfzr is stock motor and pipe wise, shocks are reworked by C&D Racing and i have rath nerfs with 18 in tires

My old 416 i had, had quite a bit of pep to her but i just put a hotcam in a bone stock 400ex and i think it did about the same as the 416 and the guy i bought my 416 off of said he dyno'd it and it put out around 32-34

2000 416
high comp piston
full curtis sparks + jetted

So i would say them guys ^^^^ are about dead on. (if the guy who sold me my 416 wasnt full of shi*)

it also depends on who ports it. any porting is better than stock but improperly ported can loose potential hp. ive heard that chad502ex does great head work if im not mistaken

my old 416 put out around 36, but it was dialed in very well, my yfzR put down 53 with moderate work

my dyno sheet was for 34hp on a 10:1 wiseco 416, that was ported, polished, slip on, 450r carb, stage 2, open airbox, and 6 degree key.

if you want the sheet i can get it for you. I think it is still in the dyno section.

I would say around 33-36 hp also depending on the dyno.
