garage door remotes

How would I go about buying additional remotes for more vehicles?

I would like to get 3 more. We only have 1 now. Its a Lift-Master 1/2 hp garage door opener.

What do I need to know to buy more?

Certain code?

Or could I get one of sun visor type deals and retrofit it to my truck?

You buy the same brand or a universal remote or remotes. They have a series of dip switches in them that you switch to the position that the one you have already is.

They are available at any Home Depot, Lowes, probably Walmart and your local larger hardware stores.

Lowes will carry brand specific openers. The Lift-Master (Chamberlin) will usually have a purple button on the back as a learn button, no dip switches needed. I have an opener on each of our vehicles sunvisor and a wireless keypad outside.
