50 pipe ?

whats the best mx pipe for a 50 with 2011 cylinder?

I haven't tested an exhaustive list, but have tested a few. the 2011 cylinder is a malossi MHR replica. it depends on the rpms you are turning or can turn as to what pipe you should get. We've had that cylinder running well from 11.5 - 14k and by that I mean hitting different specific rpms in that range as related to peak hp of our bike.

that said, the lower end of the rpm range works well with a 2011 drr 90 stock pipe. cheap, nice, predictable power. if you are up more on the higher end of the range, like 12.5-13.5, then the hetrick gen 3 works nice for a high rev setup.

in the middle, the stock apex pipe is a very nice middle pipe. gives the bike a good mid range pull, and still lets it rev out.

If you're kid can keep it on the pipe all the time, the gen III is amazing, but you need the rest of the motor to go along with the pipe to get up to the rpms required to get the most out of it. ie. porting, intake, ignition mods, etc.

you could call Hetrick, he is building a lot of 2011 cylinder DRR 50 mod bikes lately based on our national 50CVT setup he designed.

I have my ported polini 50cc cylinder back from the shop, and its going to sit in a box until end of season. that is how much we like the 2011 stock cylinder setup.

what carb do you guys use with the gen 3 pipe? I had a snyder rev pipe on out eton 70 that i tried on our 50 with the cast cylinder and couldnt get it run decent know matter what. well tinkering around the garage today i though i would give it a shot on the 50 with the 2011 cylinder. Wow what a difference. it really woke it up over the hetrick gen 1. i need to make some jetting changes for sure but looking for a carb reccomendation as i think something might work better than our 20mm PE before i spend alot of time jetting it.

kehin 20mm with 50pilot / 95 main. might need to be a bit richer on pilot with the Gen III if memory serves me.
