So i have 2 carbs for the r. i think they are both the PJ, one is supposed to be a stocker for an 87, the other came on it.

one has the fuel inlet on the side and coming out the side and facing the front of the machine

the other has the inlet facing up toward the tank

while the one that faces the front leaks so either i have to turn it off after riding or let it drip out quite a bit of gas. turning it off isnt really a big deal but i know i wont always remember.

I bought this other carb thinking id be good to go, bolt it on and ride, and not have the new one leak.

while onto my issue finally~ the top facing inlet one conflicts with the petcock since it has to make a tight bend. the hoses kink and cut off the gas. so to those who run that carb, how do you run the hose? run a longer piece of hose around and make a big loop?

I rebuilt the leaking one with most of the new stuff in my moose kit but it still leaks quite a bit. im talking 1/2 gallon over the course of 24 hours and a big puddle under the machine.

I got irritated and put the leaking one back on so that i could ride yesterday and just turned it off after testing it for leaks today but would like to get the new one on there.

any thoughts? Thanks for any info.

after looking at some pics, the one i bought doesnt look like a stocker. the one i have from an 87 that is supposed to be a restoration has he front facing inlet.

got hosed again... seems that i have had that happen more with this machine than any other. must be all of the different parts and different setups of it and what is considered stock and such.

the other one is a vertical inlet instead of the side inlet. they both look the same though other than that. the choke is vertical on them both, internals are the same and such too.

they both have the same start numbers on them. I will go out and find out what they are in a sec.

every body that i ride with always turn off the gas when ever we shut the bike off for more than 5 minutes. have seen floats stick and vapor lock the motor.
