valve adjustments

I just installed a new cam in my 05 450R and I was looking over the manual and no where in the manual does it explain how to adjust the valve it gives me the specs but not how to adjust the. Do I do them at TDC or is there a different way? I know I need a feeler gauge and shims if needed but just not sure where the valve and cam should be.
