Well, after owning almost every 450 there is,including a C-dale Moto and a Walsh Hybrid,I decided to buy another 250R (only quad I currently own).An 87 R off the showroom floor is the first quad I had,so I guess I went full circle! I came across this 86 that was somewhat a basket case!It had a 88 motor with a ESR 310 kit and ran strong, also already had the CR ignition/light flywheel...Paid $1600 for it.I live in Sothern Cal. so weather its a MX track, desert trails or dunes,I could use the extra width so I decided on a MX setup. Here are some before pics!:huh

This is where im at so far!!!Fullbore plastics with Q-tech hood,DFR graphics and seat,+4 axle,Black aluminum shrouds, custom fit Rath nerfs,Hiper wheels,Laeger -1" swingarm,Elka single rate rear,Elka triple rate fronts,Laeger +4 PC gold arms(on order),steel braided brake lines.Still need a stem and some misc items but REALLY need those arms!!! Back when Honda released the red 88 I fell in love with it and wanted to sell my 87 for one,BUT I was highly dissapointed when they did away with the gold arms and swinger for the silver stuff, absolutely no character!!!

Wont you be a little too wide with +4s?

Looks good, like seeing what folks are up to. I'm disappointed you peeled of those nice Laeger's stickers for the ProLink decals. :blah:

I think you'll probably be at 50" with 4:1 rims...

Yes danhung11 is correct. I had called Scott at Leagers awhile back for my R, and using +4 A-arms with a Standard width frame using 4/1 offset wheels would put you at 50 inches. Also, just want to say the build looks good so far, keep up the good work.

I think you'll probably be at 50" with 4:1 rims... Kinda funny you brought up the decals,I actually ordered some new blue die cut Laeger decals from site member fastredrider44 for the a-arms,also ordered some for the swingarm because it looked so good when I got it from you.I was experimenting with the Pro-Links and may switch back!

That's hilarious. I do the same crap all the time, I've learned now to pack some scotch tape in the toolbox in the garage. :D Glad he's taken care of you, he's done quite of few for me. Nice stuff!

Dan,great idea on taping stuff up first.Well,I just got an email back from Scott and he said the powdercoaters were waiting on the sun gold, its a special order color and as of this morning they still hadent recieved it?He said they have had the arms for over a week?Hard to believe a PC company takes that long to get a color?Dan,wish I would have taken that powder off your hands!!!Anyhow to make up for the delay,Scott is giving me a smokin deal on a stem.$150 shipped with clamp!Im happy, now just have to be patient!!!He said the stem is thermal coated and looks similar to a polished aluminum,I have not seen this,a pic would be nice!

Quad is looking good. I know I was at 49" wide on my stock frame with +3 a-arms, so I am guessing you will be closer to 51" with the +4 arms.

Did you buy the rear Elka shock from Troy? I thought I read that in another post somewhere. I can just barely make out the Race Tech sticker on the resi. That used to be my old shock, should work out pretty good for you.

Looks very nice, I love the red frame / red fenders / red beadlocks combination. I have a similar build.

I don't know if you still have the blue plastics ? I'm looking for blue plastics for another R, If you ever want to sell them.

FINALLY got my +4 Laegers a-arms...They look amazing coated in sun gold! Will post pics tomorrow, wish I could start the assembly now!The steering stem has a cerramic coating and looks like a semi gloss aluminum, just like coated headers.I think im going to coat it black, the silver wont flow with my colors.:D
