I think I've read most of the two stroke porting stuff but I don't own a twostroke engine, I want to learn more about 4stroke porting. Any links or info would be a great help. thankd.

Here (http://www.ford-econoline.com/techarticles/porting.html) is one link. I haven't read the entire article, so I don't know how pertinent it is, but it may be what you're looking for.

I'm not trying to find out who will do it, I want to learn how to do it or atleast get a better understanding of it. I already did a mild port and polish to 416, But I know theres more power to gain in the head.

well you really need to learn that from someone who can do it. you need the right tools too. a flow bench and what not.

I know enough about it, to know I can't just start grinding away at the ports and expect to make more power. I just want to learn more about the porting . I'm sure I could do a little more to get more power before I start to mess things.

you could probably learn it at a tech school but you'd have to enroll and take some classes. motorcycle mechanics institute is a popular one.

There are some schools and some books that can help gain a better understanding of it. The best way is to be an intern for a good engine builder and just try to learn from them what you can. Most engine builders won't tell people how they port engines, that is their competitive advantage. You just have to pick up what you can. Read everything you come across and pay attention to what works and what doesn't when you look at engines.

Varner Motorsports did a great job. You specify what type of riding you do so they can port the head to match.

Thats whats I'm trying to do. I readed alot about 2stroke porting. I have a pretty good understanding of them. I could proble port a 250r or a banshee with pretty good results. but I havn't found anything on 4stroke engines. single cyclinder engines. I just want to find all the info I can it.

Then go to Amazon.com or a local bookstore and pick up "Four-Stroke: Performance Tuning" by A. Graham Bell. He wrote a similar book about 2 strokes that is really in depth and helpful, so I'm sure the 4 stroke version is good as well. If this book doesn't help I don't know what to tell ya. lol.

or just search arround for 4stroke tuning and stuff. do just broad general searchs.
