Within the next few months, i will be getting Works dual rate fronts. I plan on doing mostly trail riding and sometimes jumps, and eventually racing XC. Since I will have aftermarkets fronts will my stock rear be good enough or will it not perform as well ad the fronts? Would the raptor rear shock be good for XC? I don't want to waste a crap load of money if it is not neccessary.
Thanks

The stock rear shock is pretty bad on a 300ex for racing. A Raptor shock will be worlds better than stock, real similar to the works rear. Elka just released their rear shock for the 300 too.

Does anyone know where i can get a raptor rear that is in great condition or a 400ex spring?
Thanks for your help

Try ebay or bluetraxx....we have a billion springs here! Make sure its an 01 shock only!

How much for the springs? Are they new?
Thanks

What tools are neccessary? I have never taken apart a shock so i have no clue.

You just loosen up the preload rings then pull the spring clip out and remove the spring...very simple!

Yeah, I recommend you listening to Jeff (@Quadshop)! The rear shock is below par compared to having the Works dual rates up front... I should know! I too run XC races with my 300 and have both the Works dual rates and stock rear. You may do ok with the stock rear, but if you can, I would take Jeff's advise on what he has to say!

Good luck!
