Bigger than 2 12"s? Then blowthough.

Better than 2 12"s.. Easy. Im guessing everyone has shallow mount kickers or cheap 12"s in sealed boxes?

4 SA-8s would kill them. Chit 2 would.. Many many options.

Whats your budget?

What are we talking about being cheap? The SA-8's? I believe they're $140 a piece if my mind serves me right.

I was talking about how he was saying he wanted something better than everyone elses 2 12"s and I said they all probably have cheap 12"s.

Wish I could have done mine.. Finally got a tonneau cover but lost my job and had to sell my 18" and still haven't found a job.. :(

Any clue on how much space behind the seats? Right now im thinking 4 SA-8s on a AQ 2200d would be sweet.

Well the difference would be 2 subwoofers
:p Depends on alot of other factors.

Everyone has their favorite brands. But most can agree that Sundown Audio and Audioque are great brands.

I guess you could get a box big enough for 4 10's, but the problem I see is space to mount the amp in a single cab. I don't know about the Dakota specifically, but I would imagine you would need all the space you can get behind the seat for box/air space. Only option for the amp(s) would be under the seat, if you had the room.

JL is waayyyy overpriced and waayyyy over hyped. They're decent, but it doesn't hit harder than 4 15's. You can say it does all you want, but it's false.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

JLs prices are redonkulous. Your pretty much paying for the name.

If you have enough box space for 4 10s go for it. 6 cubes is huge though so hi HIGHLY doubt it. Id say you have 3 cubes max but I've never seen a Dakota inside. Again id do 4 SA-8s on a 2200d. Only need. .6 cubes each sub.

I did 2 AQ HDC3 10's on a AQ 3500d in 3 cubes and it was crazy loud. Might be little out of you budget right now though.

Do not do 2 12's and an 8..... Do the same sized subs. My buddy owns a single cab Dakota and I would say he didn't have sufficient air space for 2 12's. I would be willing to bet that 4 8's would BARELY squeeze while keeping enough air per sub. I would do 2.8^ with 4 8's and find a GOOD amp that will shoot 600 rms per sub..... On second thought, keep it like 500 or less per sub. Not to dog on you but I will be willing to bet you clip them, so keep the wattage a little lower so you have less risk of getting stinky.

Just my .02.

Yes

4 SA-8s in 2.4-2.7 cubes box turned to 33-35 hz with some Aeros with an Audioque 2200d.Or maybe Crescendos new 2200 when they come out soon.

That would be a very nice setup.

Just for fun..

ok so im new to all this and want to get it straight, 4 8 inch subs in a box facing the seats, put the amp under the seat just so it will look better than out in the floor??

Kickstarts-suck
04-22-2011, 11:09 PM
Where ever you can fit the amp and it can still get good airflow. But doesn't really matter just don't screw the amp to the box.

Yea subs forward. Cant really do much else in a regular cab truck. Maybe downfire.

ok my uncle will build me a box to fit perfect for 4 8's and cause hes a god with wood working, ill be sure and put the amp under the seat and not on the box.... and im gonna have to say walsh and jl are in the same catagory, youre paying for the name, how good does kicker sound??

Not even close to Sundown. Good for a first stereo I guess. I had kicker for my first 2 subs.

But remember different subwoofers require different boxes. Just cause its an 8 doesn't mean any 8" box is going to sound best.

Example.
Sundown SA-8 .5-.7 cubes ported.
Kicker CVR 8" .8- 1.2 cubes ported.

The sundown SA-8s are $135 each

Sundown amps will cost alittle more that Audioque. ( $815 for a 2500)

The Audioque 2200 is $389.

AQ just came out with some new
Street Duty SDC2.0 8"s if you were wanting kicker for the cheaper price.

AQ subs? They are very nice. I had 2 of the HDC3 10"s and an HDC3 18".

Sundowns subs? Also very nice. Ive had my SA-8s for over a year now beating the hell out of them and they love it.

Yes. I have my SA-8s on an AQ 1200d. AQ makes great amps. Ive had their 3500d and their 1200d. Love them.

Cheap out on subs before you cheap out on an amp. I still vote 4 18's and an SD16KD. Ahahaha.

Doesn't matter. Wont work. Each subwoofer must have a certain amount of air space for the box. You don't have enough room for a 6 cube box it would take to have 4 10s.

YFZ-FoFiddy-TC
04-23-2011, 11:58 AM
4 8's is your best bet. 4 8's in a box with sufficient air space is going to be louder than 4 10's without sufficient airspace.
