Can a 450r swingarm fit on the ex without major mods? I searched it and found a little bit on it, it seems like maybe 04-05's might be able to fit? I'm looking for it for my hybrid, since its much easier to find longer length extended swingarms for a 450 than the ex.
I need to be able to run a 400 axle, carrier, and sprocket hub.

Yes it will work, you might need the swingarm spacer/bearings for the EX, the carrier will fit but sticks out slightly and you will need the 450R brake stay/bracket if you want to run the 450 caliper.

Otherwise it bolts right up.

You wont really gain much length tho, something like an inch at the most if you buy a stock swinger.

Well, I'm looking for like a +6 or maybe 7, and the ones for the 450 are found cheaper, and more abundantly. My biggest problem is that I have to use those components I mentioned, because those parts on my bike are custom, so I can't just go buy another one for the 450 swingarm.
My other main concern would be the shock linkage, since I'm running a stock one right now, and I don't want to have to go spend the money on a new one if I don't have to. If the mounting geometry for the linkage doesn't match, wouldn't that effect how my rear end performs?

Most likely you would need a custom length shock, and maybe a 450r linkage over an EX one.

Rest of it like I said pretty much bolts up if I remember.

I'll check into some more. It's not necessarily a priority, since swingarms builders can do whatever I want basically, but it would be nice to get a more common 450r one for less money than the rarely seen +7 for an ex.

I got a +7 swingarm, I bought mine from ace fabrication, it was $425 shipped.

I know your looking for a cheaper one, but in the long run you will appreciate a newer one more.

I would contact chris at www.ace-fabrication.com if you have questions.

Ace is good, I've got 3 of them, but I wouldn't mind branching out a little.
