What would be a good carb for a 416ex. Would a 38mm be enough or would a 39 give that much more of a difference?

standard edelbrock or the fcr 39 will work, but the 39 might be a little to big unless, your doing porting and polishing work also.

Ok thanks, would a 38 do much for it, I know they are a lot cheaper but is there a big difference between the 38 and 39?

remove the chock, and u can get small bore job and swirl job done that will be cheaper and easier and probably just as good.

I have always used the 39 fcr. It works really well with the 416. I have never tried the 38.:)

I am running a 38mm carb that has been smooth bored to a 39.5mm on my big bore 452 and it runs really good. I am in the process of upgrading to a FCR41, but haven't had time to install it and get it jetted because it has been too cold. This spring the 38mm carb will be for sale when I get the FCR41 dialed in.

means they like flute it so i causes the air to swirl as it goes thru the carb making for a better air/fuel mixture meaning a better burn over all

how much is it to have them swirl the carb? (average) and does it really help much?
