sub help

looking to do one 10" sub in my truck i have no clue on this amp stuff. i just want somethin with a lil thump for all around good sound with all types of music primarily rock and rap. can anyone throw some ideas out there...I already have kicker door speakers and pioneer premier head unit

get a kicker 10in cvx. I have 2 12cvx l7's and a hiphonics 2000 watt mono block and they sound good and clear with rock and pound on rap.

with the cvx find out the max watts, and the rms, and try to find an amp that matches it closely. thats what iv always done and iv had good luck so far.

Edit- Max RMS means absolutely nothing. DO NOT pay any attention to a "max watt" rating. The only number that you want to pay attention to is the RMS. Obviously there can be a lot more to it than that, but from your paragraph, that's as in depth as you need.

box space is very limited, the smaller the better, and price not looking to throw a whole lot at it. Maybe 250 ish for a sub and amp.

surely i can get 1 good sub for 100-120 bucks...Im not going to a competition i just want a little thump with the music. Sonicelectronics.com seems to be the lowest around on prices..

Yes you can get a sub for 100-120 but you cant get an amp for 130-150 that's worth a crap.

Na on those kickers. If you want kicker go with a little CVR 10"

My first "system"a few years ago I had a cvr 12" on a kicker ZX400.1 Amp was $199 and sub was like $75. Put it in a nice ported 2.2 cube box and it did pretty good.

That little 400.1 kicker amp impressed me. I went from my AQ3500D and 2 HDC310"s to my temp setup of a L7 12" and 400.1 and was still impressed with it.

Curious as why you say no on the cvx's. They are the l7's just round which gives it a better quality sound. Maybe not as loud but much cleaner bass. Just my opinion not trying to start anything.

CVXs are not really in his price range of $250 for sub and amp.

But Ive had an L7 and wasnt happy with it. I wish I would have spent the money on some Sundown or non "mainstream" brands instead.

Sundown SA-10 / AQ SDC 10 > CVX 10 (my personal opinion)

The SA-8's are some sweet little subs. The problem with your budget like Kickstart has pointed out is an amp. A good amp will be about $200. Check out soundsolutionsaudio.com they're a Sundown retailer.

The DC 8's are also some bad *** subs. I know the DC's are $120 each shipped, atleast they were last year.

I personally wouldn't use shallow mount subs. I'd go with a Sundown SA-8 or a DC lvl2 8.

I have a Kicker 12" shallow mount with a 500 watt amp. It sounds awesome for what it is but it wont get as deep as a normal sub. If you have the room, get a deep sub.
I got it from sonicelectronix too and theyre a good place.
