08 Sound

There a noise coming from the clutch side of the engine when cold and first started not a ticking or anything like a whine. Thought it maybe the Clutches but once it warms up its quits and iv read it could be the oil pump. I couldnt see it being the clutches since it was just bought in December in ideals?

Then either the timing chain and or tensioner (usually both) is bad or the valves need to be adjusted.

Nope that's not it lol I know what your talking about it's no tick it's a whine like a whimpering puppy. I'm not sure what it is my buddy's does it when's it's cold are been setting up a while he also has a 08 and I do to and mine never does it. I also have a 300 that my brother rides that does it bad when it's cold are first started and goes away when warm. No idea what it is prolly the oil pump my guess are something of that nature. We never had any problems out if his and it's a 2000 model and has never been rebuilt and he gives it hell. But if you find out let me know are anybody that has any idea what it is.

Yea that describes it perfect. Was going to take it back to the shop but were pretty sure its just the oil pump.

If it's still under warranty are they want charge alot take it and see what it is itd be nice to know later down the road in case somebody runs into it again lol.

If its clutches there not under warranty and he didn't say how much if it was.

If it is what I am thinking it is normal.. Just the nature of the 400....

Just picked up a brand new 08 and it makes the same sound just the nature of the beast

Mine does the same thing. It has about 10 minutes on the quad.

I don't think so CJM mine don't do it and it's a 08. But like I stated my buddys does.
