70cc class?

The local AMA sanctioned MX track has two 70cc youth quad classes. 70cc production and 70cc CVT.
I was wondering what is the difference between the 70cc production and the 70cc CVT class?
Maybe it's a dumb question, but I'm confused. There was DRRs and Apexs in both classes.
Which class should my son be in with his DRR?

You can race either or both classes.
Production class would be a quad that was originally produced with that frame and engine (can be modified) this class could be shifter bikes or auto's so you are in.

CVT continuously variable transmission, that is what your Drr has.

long story short they have 2 classes to allow the option of keeping the shifter cobra's out of the cvt class.
