i second the wally wranglers or possibly a set of bridgestone dueler a/t revo 2 tires.

both are great! I have the wranglers on my explorer and the revos are on the silverado.

I just put the revos to a nice test of up to a foot of heavy wet snow, mud and such tonight while bajaing and they stick great in all conditions on the road.

the wranglers are great on my explorer, theres nothing that will stop that either, Ive had that in over a foot of snow with no problem.

tire rack has some great reviews on just about any tire you are looking at.

the explorer runs 235s and the truck runs 265s.

General grabber, firestone destination at, wranglers, dueler revos, kumho road ventures, cooper discoverys. All of those are good tires. I have a set of older revos sitting on some nice wheels I run when I feel like it, otherwise some junk hankook tires I run in bad weather.

Any of those will be fine, expect to pay at least 500 for a good set of tires. Course all the tires I listed were for a 4x4 tacoma, which usually most people run a 265/75/16 tire on. Unless you have the 2wd taco or the really, really cheap model it has 16s.

kuhmos were 3rd on the list and look like great tires.

I wasnt overly impressed with the wear or traction on my mas discoverer atrs she had on her burb, she got some revos on hers this past fall also.

the stt looks like a nice aggressive tire too but as with all of the discoverers they are quite expensive.

what are you looking for, an aggressive mud or a a/t?

PLEASE DO NOT PUT P METRIC TIRES ON IT PLEASE!!!! YOU WANT LT METRIC!

P metric is designed for a small light, suv or small 2wd truck like an s10 and to ride nice on the road. I HIGHLY dislike them on anything that is remotely close to a real truck/suv.

What you want is to find a tire with a LT rating, Light Truck. It will have max pressure at around 50psi vs the 35psi or 44psi of the P metric. An LT if called upon will handle more weight, tow well, ride better (stiffer, but better), wear just as long and have much better traction usually b/c the tread is thicker.

I only run LT tires unless its something like a ford escape or a 2wd ford ranger.

If you have a 4wd tacoma you can easily fit a nice 265 (31's) on there, right now you have 29's with 245s and while mpg is nice thats about the only advantage you have-a 265 will drop you maybe 1mpg.

Thats my take on it, I like the 265s on the tacomas/4runners.
