has anybody ever tried one of these? id like to find a way to quiet down my exhaust just a little bit. I could probably make one myself if anyone has got one and could post up a pic.

I found that something like this worked out. It toned it down some but it does not sound like crap. I am still playing with some ideas for an insert.

Tell me how closet rod holders work???
Also...
Are the HMF cores universal? or do you need a HMF can?

I went through the whole process of making something that fits in the recessed area at the end of the can and then I saw the closet rod ends that I had laying around and guess what, it fit behind the end cap. It is a little smaller but it fit. I stuck it in there and the sounds wasn't to bad. Much better than the quiet core itself. Try it out, heck for $2.50 it was worth a shot. So far I have been satisfied with the sound.
Not sure if the HMF quiet cores are universal.
